LINDA SQUIBB
Linda began training Morgans and Arabs at age 13 on her stepfather's Colbrook Morgan Horse Farm in Foster, Quebec. There she learned to train horses to drive and ride plus run a breeding and show stable. At age 16, she met Harold and Marilyn Childs of Tunbridge, Vermont, who would not only become her mentors, but cherished friends as well. The Childs' ran a very successful Saddlebred and Morgan training stable - Harolyn Hill. It is there that Linda honed her riding skills and, through Harold, obtained an affinity for Mules!
In exchange for lessons, Linda trained one of their Saddlebreds called "Lovey" to drive and showed her under saddle as well. Linda also had the distinct honour of helping Marilyn with the updating of her book "Training Your Colt to Ride and Drive" (demonstrating long lining and lungeing techniques) - a current, relevant and widely-used manual.
In 1985 she registered her Morgan farm prefix: Misty Ayr with the vision of setting up her own facility one day. Linda has trained numerous horses through the years, from purebreds to grade horses, for driving and riding, for pleasure and show. In 1998 Linda and her two Morgans, Ebony and Emma, left Canada for England to join her future husband Stephen. In April 2004 Linda and Stephen bought a 150 acre farm in Stirling, Ontario and returned with Ebony, Emma, Ginger (a wild New Forest Pony) and the dogs to open up a boarding, lesson and training facility.
